WaYS Internship Opportunity!

The College of the Atlantic is partnering with Sipayak Resilience Committee on the Maine Energy Upgrade Program (www.maineup.org) to implement residential energy efficiency work in and around Sipayik. The program will include conducting free energy audits of Tribal homes, installing free LED light bulbs and high-efficiency shower heads, measuring for Window Dressers, and other energy efficiency work.

An energy audit uses many different tools and instruments to measure the energy efficiency of a house. The audit determines how much air leakage is in a house, identifies moisture concerns and health and safety issues such as gas leaks. The end result of an energy audit is having the information needed to decide what changes to make to a home to make it more comfortable, safe and cheaper to live in.

As a WaYs intern, you would learn how to conduct an energy audit, help write energy audit reports and learn a whole lot about energy efficiency. You would also be help outreach in the community and attend events like the Health Fair during the Passamaquoddy Community Days.

The program will run from mid-June until the end of August, and you would be working directly with students from College of the Atlantic.
